Golf at the Olympics

The Olympics are taking place in Paris this week, and while we love watching golf on tour, you’ve got to admire all the sheer athleticism on display at the Olympic Games.

In the 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo, Americans Xander Schauffele and Nelly Korda both claimed Olympic Gold Medals in the men’s and women’s Golf Individual events, and golf is of course returning to the Olympics for this year too.

The Men’s golf event takes place from the 1st – 4th of August, with the women’s golf taking place on the following weekend from the 7th – 10th August.

Who's playing golf at the Olympics?

There are dozens of world-class golfers you could put forward to represent their countries in the Olympics, but there’s a specific qualifying process in place to allocate athletes.

As you can expect, qualifying to compete in golf at the Olympics is determined by ranking. The golf qualifying at this year’s Games is limited to 60 men’s and 60 women’s players as dictated by the Official World Golf Rankings.

The top 15 male and female players via World Rankings are eligible to compete, with up to a max of four players from a single country. After the top 15, the Olympic golf rankings consist of the top two eligible for each country following the world golf rankings.

As you can expect, there’s going to be some world-class talent competing for their countries. The American line up consists of Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Nelly Korda, and Lilia Vu. Representing Great Britain are Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Charley Hull, and Georgia Hall.

Equipment is the key to performance

Being one of the best players in the world and representing your country must be such a thrill! But no matter your ability, if you’re playing with substandard equipment, you’re not going to be reaching your potential.

Xander Schauffele will be taking his Odyssey Toulon golf putter to France because he knows it will help him perform to his high standard. It’s the club that helped him win The Open, and it’s the club that will help him chase another Olympic medal.

Odyssey makes exceptional putters, and the ones we currently have in the pro shop are at the very cutting edge of modern putter tech. Without a solid golf putter in the bag, you could be falling short of scoring when it matters on the greens. Odyssey has engineered their latest Ai-One putters to give you the most out of your short game and have you feeling on top of the world.

Odyssey Ai-One putters

The Ai-One putters have a glossy, blue PVD finish applied to the clubhead, and the bladed clubs in the range feature a panlite window on the back that allows you to see the back of the white insert on the face. This club is incredibly well-balanced and has a lightweight shaft, the counterbalancing nature of which offers an ideal weighting for the player.

Each club has a longer grip and heavier steel shaft to compliment the larger clubhead, keeping consistent stability in each of your shots.
